On 15 and 17 September 2026, Douala and Yaoundé hosted the official launch of Nutriflex® Omega peri, a complete parenteral nutrition solution. Behind the event stands a chain of partners with complementary roles: B. Braun, the manufacturer, PHARMCO, the distributor, and Gima-Bambot MedTech Ltd, the orchestrator, whose mission is to ensure that this innovation actually reaches the hospitalised patient.

Three partners, one shared goal

A therapeutic solution only makes a difference if it clears every step between its design and its use at the bedside. Each of the three partners takes charge of part of that journey:

• B. Braun, an international manufacturer, designs and produces Nutriflex® Omega peri;
• PHARMCO, a pharmaceutical distributor based in Douala, ensures the product is available in the country;
• Gima-Bambot MedTech Ltd., coordinates the whole and connects with healthcare facilities and clinical teams, so that the solution is known, understood and properly used.

This is the spirit in which Gima-Bambot MedTech Ltd., designed and organised both meetings: not as a simple product presentation, but as a moment of knowledge sharing between those who manufacture, those who distribute and those who provide care.

Nutrition as an integral part of patient care

In oncology, intensive care and surgery alike, a patient’s nutritional status affects their ability to tolerate treatment and to recover. When oral or enteral feeding is not possible or not sufficient, parenteral nutrition becomes a therapeutic lever in its own right. This observation shaped the programme of both events.

A programme grounded in clinical practice

The Douala meeting, held at the Star Land Hotel, was opened by Gima-Bambot MedTech Ltd., and Emmanuel Goujard, representing B. Braun, followed by a presentation of the three partners and their respective roles.

The programme covered the role of omega-3 and omega-6 in parenteral nutrition, informed by oncology practice, a hands-on demonstration led by Emmanuel Goujard (B. Braun) and Marylyn Ekema, from an application perspective, and an extended exchange between clinicians and experts.

The demonstration was guided by a clear principle: making parenteral nutrition simpler. The application perspective served as a reminder that the success of any therapy also depends on how well it is delivered, one step at a time.

The physicians and specialists in attendance engaged fully, with numerous questions on indications, bag preparation and integration into existing protocols. The Yaoundé meeting on 17 September generated the same level of interest.

Nutriflex® Omega peri at a glance

Nutriflex® Omega peri comes in a three-chamber bag containing:

• a glucose solution;
• a lipid emulsion combining medium-chain triglycerides, soybean oil and omega-3 fatty acid triglycerides;
• an amino acid solution with electrolytes.

The chambers are mixed immediately before use by simply opening the peel seals, which reduces handling. The resulting emulsion can be administered through a peripheral or central vein, and compatible additives can be added according to the patient’s needs. The product is available in 1,000 ml, 1,250 ml and 1,875 ml bags.

Nutriflex® Omega peri is a prescription-only medicine. Its indication, dosage and monitoring are at the discretion of the prescribing physician.

Orchestrating the last mile

The road from the production site to the patient’s bedside is a long one. For Gima-Bambot MedTech Ltd., the value of a medical innovation is decided on that last mile: a solution that is available but little known, or known but not fully mastered, cannot deliver its full benefit to the patient. Coordinating partners, reaching out to healthcare facilities and supporting clinical teams as they adopt new solutions is how we contribute to stronger quality of care in Cameroon.
